FIELD: physics, signalling.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, particularly to devices for automatically alerting workers on railway tracks on a rolling stock dangerously approaching the point of trackwork. A system for alerting on an approaching rolling stock includes a central control unit, which includes a radio signal receiver, alarms, rolling stock detectors designed to be installed along a railway track and corresponding radio signal transmitters connected to the detectors. The system additionally includes at least four rolling stock detectors for installation, at least two on each track on each side of the point of trackwork. The rolling stock detector is an ultrasonic sensor. The central control unit is configured to receive radio signals from the transmitters with a frequency which is sufficient to determine the order of the beginning of activation of the rolling stock detectors and determine the direction of movement of the rolling stock.

EFFECT: determining the direction of an approaching rolling stock using rolling stock detectors installed on railway tracks.
