FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: aqueous solution of titanium tetrachloride is heated at 25-75°C to produce a suspension of titanium oxide rutile particles. The prepared suspension is filtered, washed in water and subject to a hydrothermal reaction at 120-180°C in the presence of acetic acid in an amount of 75 molar portions or more per 100 molar portions of titanium oxide in the suspension. The suspension is further filtered, washed in water and added with an acid to deflocculate the suspension. The produced suspension is processed by wet dispersion to produce a disperse system. Excess acid and water-soluble salts are removed from the disperse system. The invention enables producing rutile-modified titanium oxide particles with D50 15 nm or less, D90 40 nm or less, a specific surface area of 120 m2/g or more, characterised by max. 5% weight loss at heating from 105°C to 900°C.
