FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes preparing a solution of a hydrophobically modified polyacrylamide with molecular weight of 300000-1500000, adding N-vinylcaprolactam and N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide in toluene, and then dispersing with a mechanical mixer at a rate of 200-300 rpm or an ultrasonic disperser, wherein polymerisation is carried out in the presence of sodium persulphate for 5-6 hours, and the obtained aqueous dispersion is dialysed to pH 6.0-6.5.
EFFECT: method significantly cuts the duration of the process and virtually eliminates linear poly-N-vinylcaprolactam impurities completely.
