SUBSTANCE: printing machine is proposed, having a sheet or web feeding for numbering and varnishing security documents, including bank notes, comprising a numbering unit comprising a numbering element for numbering the printed material in the form of individual sheets or successive portions of a continuous web, carrying a plurality of security prints. The varnishing unit disposed downstream of the numbering unit, for applying the varnish on the top and back sides of the printed material, and the varnishing unit comprises at least a first varnishing element located upstream of the printed material for applying the varnish on the top side of the printed material, and at least a second varnishing element located downstream of the printed material for applying the varnish on the back side of the printed material.
