FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes reacting propylene oxide with glycol and an alkane, beginning with C7 or higher, during liquid extraction and separating propylene oxide with lower content of impurities. The purified propylene oxide can be obtained during reaction of propylene and hydroperoxide to form a crude stream of propylene oxide, followed by distillation of the crude stream and forming a stream of propylene oxide containing 1-5 wt % impurities, followed by reaction of the stream of propylene oxide with glycol and alkane, starting from C7 or higher, during a liquid extraction process, followed by separation of the alkane fraction containing propylene oxide from the glycol fraction and single-step or multi-step distillation of the alkane fraction to form alkane residues and propylene oxide containing less than 0.1 wt% impurities as the product.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the purification method.
