FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a propylene oxide separation system. In accordance with the invention, the system comprises a distillation column, a receiving vessel and a water wash system, a solvent stripping column and an extraction column. Distillation column is configured to receive a product stream of crude propylene oxide, discharge a product stream with impurities which contains methanol and water, and discharge a lower fraction, which contains a large portion of propylene oxide entering the product stream of the crude propylene oxide. Receiving vessel, which is a side receiving vessel of the distillation column, is configured to receive at least a portion of the product stream with impurities and a hydrocarbon solvent, ensuring the formation in the receiving vessel of an organic phase and an aqueous phase. Organic phase contains propylene oxide and a hydrocarbon solvent and is transferred to the distillation column. Aqueous phase contains a large portion of the weight percent of methanol and water entering the product stream with impurities. Water wash system is provided to receive and purify the aqueous phase from the propylene oxide separation system. Solvent stripping column is capable of receiving the lower fraction from the distillation column, and the solvent stripping column is capable of discharging the upper fraction of the distillation column containing a significant portion of propylene oxide. Extraction column is capable of exposing the upper fraction of the solvent stripping column from the stripping column to extraction with a hydrocarbon solvent to remove impurities, wherein the removed impurities containing one or more of formaldehyde, methyl formate, acetaldehyde and methanol are fed to the water wash system.
EFFECT: disclosed propylene oxide separation system makes it possible to separate propylene oxide with a high degree of purity, low aldehyde content, and without significant loss of propylene oxide.
