FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of identifying noise sources comprises measuring and recording noise inside the passenger compartment at a selected gear and in a given speed range on a measuring section with a defined coverage profile, comparing the maximum value of the level of the measured noise with a standard value. The method includes performing spectral processing of the noise and determining energy-bearing harmonics, after which the stationary vehicle with a turned off engine is fitted with means of measuring vibrations on surfaces and components of the passenger compartment; a sound source is then installed at the point of measuring internal noise and the recorded noise is transmitted thereto. The level of the emitted noise is set corresponding to the level of the recorded noise and, while reproducing the noise, vibrations of the surfaces and components of the passenger compartment are measured and recorded in a storage device. Further, the method includes performing spectral processing of the recorded vibrations, determining energy-bearing harmonics in the vibration spectra and comparison thereof with energy-bearing harmonics of the noise, and if values of energy-bearing frequencies match, the sources of internal noise in the passenger compartment of the vehicle are identified and ranked.
