FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to acoustics of vehicles and may be used for identification of vehicle noise sources and their ranging. At first in series of noise measurements during vehicle driving in speed-up mode at different gears maximum value of noise is detected, than during additional drive of vehicle external noise is recorded on memorising device on gear and from vehicle side, which correspond to maximum value, after that typical frequencies of tooth gears and rotation frequencies of vehicle engine are calculated, spectrogram of recorded external noise is obtained and design values of typical frequencies are applied on it, and during passing through intensely coloured parts of spectrogram noise sources are identified and ranged.
EFFECT: reduction of time required for vehicle acoustic adjustment and reduction of its cost.
