FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: carotid artery and jugular vein are opened in an anesthetized animal. A material separating the carotid artery from surrounding tissues is laid under the carotid artery. That is followed by administering an anticoagulant preparation or a control solution into the jugular vein. Thereafter, the carotid artery is brought into contact with a thin steel needle connected to a d.c. power supply at voltage 3 V. A second electrode in introduced subcutaneously into an animal's thigh with passing current at intensity 200-250 microampere for one minute. The following process is filmed under microscope; the video record is analysed by computer programme to size up a formed thrombus.

EFFECT: method provides an acceptable thrombus formation rate thereby ensuring the higher effectiveness of assessing the thrombus formation in experimental animals with electrically induced thrombosis.
