FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: catalyst contains 10-100 wt % of at least one component of a binding substance/matrix and 5-90 wt % of a zeolite molecular sieve, a non-zeolite molecular sieve or a mixture of any two or more thereof. The catalyst contains a metal, including (a) a noble metal; and (b) an alkali metal or an alkali-earth metal. (a) and (b) are deposited in the form of one or more coating layers on the surface of an extruded solid mass. Alternatively the catalyst contains 10-100 wt % of at least one component of a binding substance/matrix and 5-80 wt % of optionally stabilised cerium oxide. The catalyst also contains a metal, including (a) a noble metal; and (b) an alkali metal or an alkali-earth metal.

EFFECT: low back pressure in the exhaust system, high strength, high wear-resistance and efficiency of the catalyst.
