FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to coin-receiving devices designed to authenticate and determine the denomination of each coin or token fed into a vending machine. The detector comprises an array of inductive sensors (72) arranged along a coin channel, an array of optical sensors (70) arranged along a coin channel, a data processing circuit connected to the arrays of optical and inductive sensors. Each sensor transmits an output signal to the data processing circuit, where the data processing circuit determines the size of the coin and the size of at least one aperture in the coin based on the output signal from each of the arrays of optical and inductive sensors. Detection data are used to authenticate and determine the denomination of the coin or token.
EFFECT: enabling verification of coins made from more than one different material with holes, which are symmetrical or asymmetrical, apertures or rings.
