FIELD: physics, navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation and topographic precise positioning, particularly to methods of presenting and using digital topographic-geodetic information, and is intended for determining navigation and topographic-geodetic parameters for ground-based mobile objects. A method of generating a digital map operating mode includes displaying on a digital map a path and a position of a mobile object; loading digital maps from an external storage into an on-board computer; automatically replacing map sheets when the mobile object moves beyond the border and determining on the digital map coordinates H of points marked by the cursor of an operator; centring the map relative to the mobile object and orienting the map in the direction of movement of the mobile object or towards the North; laying out multiple routes for selecting an optimum route; if digital maps cannot be used, generating a coordinate grid on the operating region on which the map is unavailable.
EFFECT: providing efficient navigation of mobile objects.
