FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of control of high voltage overhead power transmission lines (HV) control and may be used to control condition of HV insulators. The proposed system comprises a control terminal, which is connected by a fibre-optic line with modules of primary processing placed on the HV supports. Each module comprises band pass filters, inlets of which are connected to the appropriate current sensor, which measures currents induced in an HV earth wire by partial discharges (PD), produced by HV insulators defects. An electric optic modulator is connected to the outlet of each filter, on the basis of a Bragg grating, built into the optic fibre line. The control terminal comprises a source of laser radiation and a photodetector, a programmable data processing unit, a circulator. With the help of the unit, the terminal determines spectral shifts of emissions reflected by Bragg gratings of modulators, calculates, according to appropriate spectral shifts, intensity of signals at outputs of band pass filters and, comparing specified intensities, detects a module closest to the insulation defect - source of PD.

EFFECT: reduced requirements to power supply of primary processing modules, installed in HV supports, and increased reliability and information value of data transmission from these modules to a remote control terminal.
