FIELD: temperature and mechanical stresses distribution measuring.

SUBSTANCE: Brillouin reflectometer for measuring the distribution of temperature or mechanical stresses along the length of an optical fiber contains a pulsed laser connected to a sensitive element in the form of a first piece of optical fiber, first and second means for organizing the reception of backscattered radiation, and a photodetector connected to an information processing unit. The reflectometer is equipped with a second piece of optical fiber, a continuous laser and a laser frequency control unit. Between the first piece of optical fiber and the first means for organizing the reception of backscattered radiation, there is a piece of optical fiber in which there are no mechanical stresses and the temperature of which is controlled. A fiber optical amplifier is additionally inserted between the first means for organizing the reception of backscattered radiation and the second section of optical fiber. A fiber-optic splitter, a powerful continuous-wave laser, a shutter, an adder, a reference voltage source, a timer, and a photodetector have been introduced.
