FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: method of determining saprophytic bacteria stimulating the growth of Listeria monocytogenes in marine microbial communities, comprises inoculation as "lawn" of one half of a Petri dish with agar medium CMM with cultures under study, and the other half of the dish - with GRM-agar - the test cultures of Listeria. To apply the test cultures the paper discs are used, impregnated with a suspension of Listeria. The criterion of stimulating activity of saprophytic bacteria is the magnitude of the growth zone of test cultures around the paper disc, equal to or greater than 0.9 cm, with less the disc size.

EFFECT: invention enables to improve the ability to detect active saprophytic marine bacteria stimulating the growth of pathogenic bacteria, and increase in accuracy, economic efficiency and ease of their account during sanitary and environmental monitoring studies, including under the expedition conditions.
