FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of charging electrochemical cells and can be used to charge an electrochemical cell with an aqueous electrolyte, particularly alkaline electrochemical cells. The method includes feeding charging current to porous electrodes of an electrochemical cell and generating mechanical vibrations of electrolyte ions, wherein the mechanical vibrations of the electrolyte of the electrochemical cell are generated acoustically in the range of 1 kHz to 5 MHz, wherein acoustic action on the electrolyte is generated in the surface region of the electrodes, which have pore size in the range of 0.7 nm to 10 mcm.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain maximum charging current while simultaneously providing maximum capacitance of electrochemical cells.
