FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: storage battery is charged with regulated asymmetric current, proportion of discharge-to-charge pulse amplitudes being 3-4 and numeric values of charge pulse amplitudes equal to 0.3-0.5 of rated capacity at charge pulse length of 220 ± 20 ms and discharge pulse length of 15 ± 5 ms with intervals between them of 0-2 ms; charging process lasts until voltage across battery is brought to threshold value specified by Standard Specifications or by relevant operating instructions, or until charge capacity amounting to 120-150% of rated value is attained. Battery voltage is measured during interval between charge and discharge current pulses.
EFFECT: reduced time taken for battery formation and recovery, reduced gas emission.
