MULTIMODULE SPACECRAFT FOR CLEANING UP GEOSTATIONARY ORBIT AND METHOD OF CLEANING UP GEOSTATIONARY ORBIT Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC B64G1/00

Abstract RU 2573015 C2

FIELD: physics, navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space engineering and can be used to carry out programs for removing decommissioned spacecraft from a geostationary orbit. The multimodule spacecraft for cleaning up man-made objects from a geostationary orbit comprises a propulsion system with fuel reserves, a power installation and a control system with a set of equipment for observation and determining motion parameters of the spacecraft being removed from orbit. The multimodule spacecraft is fitted with at least one autonomous manoeuvring module with a propulsion system, a control system, a self-homing head and a payload, with the possibility of separating the module at given moment in time. A method of cleaning up man-made objects from a geostationary orbit includes launching the multimodule spacecraft to an operating orbit with an altitude close to the geostationary orbit of the spacecraft, in the opposite direction of the movement of the spacecraft.

EFFECT: reducing resource consumption (fuel, launch rockets) when solving tasks of cleaning up man-made objects from a geostationary orbit.
