FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: pipeline wall thickness is measured as a function of position using ultrasound propagation. A series of forecasting models is used, which set forecasts of ultrasonic signals of response as a function from various sets of parameters, which are determinant for ultrasonic speed, depending on the position, at various frequencies of sound and various spatial resolution. Serial iteration processes of adjustment are performed, where each process adjusts the combination of values of the serial parameter set to detected ultrasonic signals of response in accordance with the appropriate model, using adjusted values from the previous process of adjustment to initialize the next set of parameters for iteration adjustment. At least the first model sets forecasts of values of wave vectors as a function of peripheral position in serial rings around the specified pipe as sum of values of wave vectors for peripheral positions in the previous ring multiplied by propagation coefficients, using propagation coefficients depending on the first set of parameters.
EFFECT: increased validity of pipeline wall thickness detection.
