FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: mandrel is displaced along the part bore axis. Hardened circular sections are formed at the part bore surface by heating them to the quenching temperature. Circular sections with hardness differences are produced by a smooth variation of electric current density at the contact between the mandrel and part bore surface.
EFFECT: higher wear resistance and longer life.
