SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless transmission of data by transmitter using a plurality of transmission layers. The method includes estimating the number of data vector symbols (124) to be allocated to one or more user data codewords (122) during a subframe; determining the number of bits in the one or more user data codewords (122); calculating the standard number of control vector symbols (124) to allocate to control information based, at least in part, on the estimated number of data vector symbols (124) and the determined number of bits in the one or more user data codewords (122); determining an offset value based, at least in part, on the number of layers through which the transmitter (100) will transmit during the subframe; and calculating the final number of control vector symbols (124).
EFFECT: allocating transmission resources between control signalling and user data.
