FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control over ionising device incorporated with the ICE exhaust gas afterpurification device. The latter comprises one cathode and one anode. Note here that one cathode in exhaust gas afterpurification device is spaced from the anode. Proposed method comprises the steps that follow. High voltage is applied between said cathode and anode. The first magnitude for said high voltage is set. Current produced by said high voltage between said cathode and anode is registered. Second magnitude for high voltage is set if registered current exceeds the first current the preset number of times. Note here that said second magnitude is smaller than the first one.
EFFECT: prevention of arcing or extinguishing of produced arc.
