SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine (ICE) (2) runs on combustible mixes with excess air. Proposed device (1) incorporates heater (3) in partial contact with off-gas activated by electric power and provided partially with oxidising coating (4). Proposed method comprises a) heating of said heater (3) to temperature above the first preset temperature. b) Temperature of heater (3) or off-gas temperature is controlled. Now, c) increase is initiated in content of hydrocarbons in off-gas in case temperature of heater (3) or off-gas reaches boundary temperature or ICE (2) runs under low load.
EFFECT: active operation of gas exhaust system under all ICE operating conditions.
