FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for preparing compounds of complex oxides with the garnet structure which can be used to produce active elements solid state lasers near and mid-IR ranges for development of scintillators and phosphors, as well as in the production of heat-resistant ceramics. A process for preparing nanoscale powders YAG initial reaction involves the preparation of aqueous solutions containing salts of yttrium (III) and aluminum (III) in a molar ratio of 3:5. First reagent precipitator, which is used as strongly basic anion exchanger gel AB-17-8 in the hydroxide form are contacted with a solution of salts of yttrium (III) at room temperature for 20 min, then a solution of aluminum salts (III). From the resulting solution the product precipitated precursor is separated from its solution, washed with water, dried and calcined at a temperature of 900°C.

EFFECT: ion exchange method provides a nanosized powder of yttrium aluminum garnet containing no cations of the precipitator without using aggressive environments and pressures.
