FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for chemical, construction industry and medicine, and can be used to produce composites, concrete plasticisers and anti-HIV microcides. Coal pitch or coal tar is treated with sulphuric acid with concentration of at least 80% at temperature of 60-90°C or 60-70°C, respectively. Part of the unreacted sulphuric acid, the formed sulphonic acid and unreacted aromatic hydrocarbons are washed consecutively with tetrachloromethane and acetone. Water and calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide are then added to the obtained black-coloured crystalline mass of said mixture, after decantation thereof or without decantation, to precipitate polyhydroxyl derivatives of a carbon nanocluster with simultaneous neutralisation of residual sulphuric acid to pH 6.8-7.0. The obtained solution, which contains fullerene-polysulphonic acid and a water-insoluble sludge, which includes an insoluble complex of polyhydroxyl derivatives of a carbon nanocluster, calcium compounds and residues of unreacted aromatic hydrocarbons, is evaporated to a dry residue and ground, followed by washing off residues of unreacted aromatic hydrocarbons with toluene in a Soxhlet apparatus. Fullerene-polysulphonic acid is then extracted with polar solvents from a series which includes alcohol and dimethyl formamide. After extraction, the solvent is distilled from the extract to a dry residue of fullerene-polysulphonic acid, which is a fine power with a yellow-brown colour, which dissolves very well in water, alcohol and dimethyl formamide.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain fullerene-polysulphonic acid using a simple method using cheap and readily available reagents.
