FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical methods of control and relates to a leak detector. A leak detector includes a cell with a test gas inlet, a membrane selectively or exclusively permeable for test gas and an optical measurement section, formed by a laser and a photodetector. The cell comprises an exciting device, which may transfer test gas into a higher metastable condition from energy point of view. The exciting device is a source of electrons, using electronic shocks for transfer of test gas into metastable condition.
EFFECT: simplification of a device, increased sensitivity and efficiency.
