FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: for sections (6) of strap (1) prior to first rolling mill (2) the current temperature is determined (T). Forecast of temperature (T') of strap sections (6) for the rolling moment of the appropriate strap section (6) in the first rolling mill (1). Then control parameter (P) is determined for rolling of strap sections (6) in the first rolling mill (2). The regulating device (10) acting on first rolling mill (2) during rolling of the appropriate strap section (6) is controlled considering the appropriate control parameter (P). Temperature (T') of strap sections (6) are forecasted with first horizon (PH1) of forecast, that corresponds to several strap sections (6). For the first horizon (PH1) of forecast the characteristic (S(t)) of control action is set for the regulating device (10), by means it the action on the profile of the deformation spot is made, it is made by work rolls (9) of the first rolling mill (2). Forecast of the appropriate profile (W) of deformation spot is made, it is crated by work rolls (9) of the first rolling mill (2) at the moment of rolling of the appropriate strap section (6). Said characteristic (S(t)) of control action is optimized based on forecasted profile (W) of deformation spot and appropriate specified profile (W*(t)). Current value of optimized characteristic (S(t)) of control action corresponds to the control parameter (P). It is set in regulating device (10) as regulating action (S).

EFFECT: improved quality of metal strip fabricated.
