SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR POSITIONING BOTTOM-HOLE ASSEMBLY IN HORIZONTAL WELL Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC E21B43/12 E21B23/00

Abstract RU 2577566 C2

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is referred to systems of well completion and methods of treatment for several zones in horizontal well. Completion system for several zones of a horizontal well contains a housing having at least one window passing though this window and ensuring fluid communication in inner space of the housing with outer space around the housing in the selected zone of the horizontal well, At that the window is designed to be opened on selective basis for fluid communication and closing for prevention of this communication; multitude of casing string joints having the same length and passing towards the bottom part in the selected zone to the separated zone of the horizontal well, at that each joint is connected with its both ends to couplings having recess capable to contact the locating latch of casing-collar locator coupled to a flexible tubing string; the first coupling connected to the first end of the first pup joint having recess capable of contact with the locating latch of casing-collar locator coupled to a flexible tubing string; the second coupling connected to the second end of the first pup joint and coupled to the first end of the housing complete with windows and having recess capable of contact with the locating latch of casing-collar locator coupled to a flexible tubing string; and the third coupling connected to the second end of the housing complete with windows and having recess capable of contact with the locating latch of casing-collar locator coupled to a flexible tubing string, moreover length of the housing complete with windows and length of the first pup joint is at least per one metre less than length of each joint of the multitude of casing string joints so that the first pup joint and the housing complete with windows ensure two successive lengths, which at use of the casing-collar locator differ from lengths of the multitude of casing string joints.

EFFECT: increased productivity at movement and identification of location for the bottom-hole assembly in the selected zone in a horizontal well.
