FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: method is to create a harmonic electric field between the portion of the surface of the wire insulation and a grounded conductive residential by placing in water the tubular transducer traversed by the monitored wire, the measuring and two provide the uniformity of the electric field at the edges of the additional protective electrodes, measuring at known amplitude and frequency of the applied voltage to the electrodes of a harmonic current flowing through the measuring electrode and the total current flowing through the electrodes of the transmitter and determining the value of capacitance per unit length by the formula:

where Ix - the current flowing through the measuring electrode; I1 - the total current flowing through the electrodes of the transmitter; C0(I1) and k(I1) - experimentally determined function of the current I1.

EFFECT: technical result is to increase the accuracy of measurement.
