FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of estimating sound absorption of porous fibrous materials includes measuring specific resistance to the flow of an air stream RS and determining the sound absorption coefficient α at a given frequency from regression equations which link RS and α. The invention can be used to estimate the sound absorption coefficient of porous fibrous materials, as well as porous materials with an open pore system.
EFFECT: high accuracy of estimation.
