FIELD: electroplating.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of plating, and can be used for protective coating method electrophoresis on metallic substrates, including substrates made of ferrous metals such as cold rolled steel, electrolytically galvanized steel. Methods comprise (a) introducing the substrate into contact with the composition for the pretreatment consisting of a metal from groups IIIB or IVB of the Periodic Table of the Elements by CAS and electropositive metal, (b) introducing the substrate into contact with the composition solution for subsequent washing and (c) electrophoretically depositing electrodepositable coating composition onto the substrate, wherein the composition is a solution for subsequent washing improves dispersibility subsequently applied electrodepositable coating composition. Invention also relates to substrates having a coating obtained thereby.

EFFECT: technical result: increase in the scattering power electrodepositable compositions improve adhesion of the coating to the substrate and the corrosion resistance of the products.
