FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a sealing composition for treating a metal substrate, a method of processing a metal substrate and a coated metal substrate. Surface is brought into contact with a sealing composition containing lithium cation and having pH from 9.5 to 12.5, and with a conversion composition containing a lanthanide cation, a group IIIB metal and/or a group IVB metal. Sealing composition is applied to provide a layer of dried sealing composition with thickness of 5 to 550 nm.
EFFECT: reduced corrosion of treated metal surface, as well as obtaining a film on a metal surface, which increases the level of content of lanthanide, a group IIIB metal and/or a group IV metal in it by at least 100 units more than on the surface of the substrate which does not have such a film, when measured by X-ray fluorescence.
