SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. A base station obtains information which indicates one or more non-serving frequencies on which a wireless device is to perform one or more measurements to determine the geographical position of the device. The base station configures the measurement gap, during which the wireless device is to perform the corresponding positioning measurement, to occur during a period of time in which a neighbouring cell transmits a positioning reference signal through the non-serving frequency.
EFFECT: optimising measurement gap configuration by aligning the measurement gap with a positioning reference signal.
