FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: system comprises an emergency situation monitoring unit with a control valve and a cylindrical metal cover for collecting high-temperature radioactive gases and steam, particulates and radioactive dust framing the reactor. The cover is connected by its upper conical part through an outlet to the central pipe of the first-stage condenser-decontaminator. The system comprises two decontamination stages after the cover: the first- and second-stage condensers-decontaminators which prevent emissions after the reactor into the atmosphere, which are filled through control valves with a decontamination solution. The first-stage condenser serves for decontaminating the particulate and radioactive dust, and the second-stage condenser-decontaminator serves for decontaminating and condensing the high-temperature radioactive gas and steam which is bubbled through a layer of a decontaminating liquid.
EFFECT: high reliability of the system during an accident at a nuclear reactor.
