FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in preparation of low-alloy steel slabs before heating for rolling. Method for protecting surface of low-alloy steel slab during rolling involves spraying aluminium thermal spray coating on broad faces of slab before it is heated in a reheating furnace for rolling thickness 0.60±0.02 mm, heating to boiling point of water and application of coating on top in form of fireclay suspension with thickness 1.0±0.02 mm.
EFFECT: technical result of invention is to reduce thickness of defect layer, remaining on sheets after slab heating and hot rolling.
