FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method of analysing underground rocks. The first signal is transmitted from a transmitter to a rock and the second signal, which is a reflection of the first signal, is received. The third signal, which is the time-reversed second signal, is then transmitted to the rock. The fourth signal, which is a reflection of the third signal from the rock, is then received and monitored. The distance to a formation boundary is determined. The resistivity or acoustic impedance discontinuity between the next and the current formation is determined. A calculated signal is determined using the determined distance to the formation boundary and the determined resistivity or acoustic impedance discontinuity, respectively. A system for carrying out the said method of analysing an underground rock is also disclosed.
EFFECT: high accuracy of obtained data.
