FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio navigation systems for positioning movable objects, such as animals. An animal locating apparatus comprises a means of communicating with the remote electronic device of the animal owner or trainer, the said device having an electrical socket which is externally accessible to provide a connection to the circuitry of the communication means; a collar, one end of which is detachably connected to the said communication means and a GPS antenna which is embedded in the collar such that it is remotely located from the said communication means. The animal locating apparatus includes an electrical conductor which is connected to the GPS antenna, one part of which is embedded in the collar and the other part comes out of the collar near one of the ends of the collar and is flexible. The animal locating apparatus also includes the second electrical socket, which is electrically connected to the exposed end of the flexible part of the electrical conductor, which enables to electrically connect both electrical sockets of the animal locating apparatus with each other.

EFFECT: protecting the antenna of the animal locating apparatus from external action due to the location thereof within the flexible housing of the collar.
