FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and apparatus for detection (detection) of the rotating wheel of a vehicle which moves along the roadway in the driving direction and the wheel which is at least partially open side. A method for detecting wheels (4) of vehicle (1) which travels on road (2) in direction (3) of motion of wheel (4) which is at least partially open side, comprising: emitting electromagnetic radiation lobe (15) measuring beam radiation pattern with a known temporal frequency characteristic of road side area (2) to the region of road (2) and inclined relative to direction (3) of the motion; reception lobe (15) of the measuring beam radiation patterns reflected passing vehicle (1), and recording the time characteristic (F) of the frequency of the reflected radiation relative to said known characteristics; and the discovery of the wheel as the broadening of the (A2) recorded the characteristic frequency (F), appearing during the passage (TR) of the vehicle, and the broadening of greater than a predetermined value (S) broadening.
EFFECT: technical result is to increase the reliability of detection of the rotating wheel of the vehicle.
