FIELD: railroad engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determining the location or identification of rolling stock. The railroad engine system for determining the speed of movement and the distance travelled contains receiving-emitting devices, each containing a receiving-transmitting channel, including a mixer connected through a band-pass amplifier to a synchronous detector, and a generator connected through two circulators to an antenna. The channel output is connected to a programmable microprocessor. Moreover, each antenna is configured to simultaneously emit and receive electromagnetic signals along two beams, while the antennas are structurally spaced apart and installed on both sides of the railroad engine to form a four-beam measuring system. The antenna is made in the form of a waveguide-slot traveling wave antenna with a quadrature aperture. Deviation of the beams generated by the antenna from the normal to the antenna is 25 degrees with a radiation pattern width of 4.5 degrees. The operating mode of the transceiver is continuous with frequency modulation according to the rectangular law, the microwave emitter is made using a Gunn diode.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of measuring of linear speed and distance travelled of the railroad engine.
