FIELD: treatment plant.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of purifying water. Method of softening water involves mixing water with adsorbent - 95 % glauconite, pre-treated with sodium chloride. Softened water contains up to 840 mg/l NaHCO3 and up to 850 mg/l NaNO3. Process is carried out in two steps with respect to water volume in litres of weight of adsorbent in grams equal 1:10. Each step is carried out by stirring water with a fresh portion of adsorbent for 20-40 minutes.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain soft water with total hardness of not more than 15/1000 mmol-eq/l.
