FIELD: shipbuilding.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of performing model tests of ships in ice test basin, including towing attached via dynamometer to towing trolley basin self-propelled model with operating propellers in ice conditions, and then to clean water in ice channel, remaining after passing towed model in ice field, which is cleaned from crushed ice. Towing truck of basin provides motion of model at a predetermined speed and propulsion speed is selected from condition of equality of estimated thrust and traction of propulsion system of model at a given speed. By results of towing self-propelled tests model in ice conditions and in conditions of pure water in said ice channel force clean ice resistance model RI, which is calculated in form of RI= FI+ FW, where FI and FW - force between the model and towing trolley in ice conditions and in conditions of pure water respectively, wherein with summation of values of force FI and FW are taken with their signs.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of reliability and accuracy of model tests of ice ships.
