FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: method for coherent combining includes laser radiation divided in channels which is directed to the appropriate channels phase modulators. After passing through the phase modulators all channels are set parallel to each other, the wave front in each channel is made flat. Part of a multichannel radiation is removed and focused on a photodetector for detecting signal. Supply of control voltage to phase modulators are performed in two stages, one test and one balancing. Value of control voltage supplied to the corrective stage, are proportional to parameter, controlling the rate of convergence, change of the signal from the photodetector at a stage and control voltage supplied to phase modulators at a stage. Parameter that controls the rate of convergence, is inversely proportional to the value of the signal from the photodetector at a stage, and the coefficient of proportionality is inversely proportional to square of the amplitude of the phase shift on a stage.
EFFECT: technical result consists in generation of coherent optical signal by adding several laser beams without measuring absolute and relative phases in channels of coherent laser beam.
