FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a structural member above melt space cover for electrolytic production of aluminium by electrolysis of a cryolite-alumina melts. Under cover of electrolyser for aluminium production, contact with gas-vapour phase of electrolytic cell comprises central and peripheral sections installed with possibility of being moved relative to each other, central and peripheral sections are made of corrosion-resistant and erosion-resistant material containing 80.0-99.0 wt% mica and 20.0-1.0 wt% of refractory filler. Central sections of cover are rigidly fixed on each anode rod, and peripheral sections are made in form of convex flaps rigidly fixed on upper surface of cathode with possibility of detachment to rest on central section of cover. Refractory filler used is following chemical compounds: clay, calcium fluoride, rutile, aluminium sodium silicate, fluorapophyllite, nepheline, olivine, magnesium fluoride, spinel. On end and lateral joints of central and peripheral covers there is a layer of sealant in form of a layer of alumina, a central section of cover can be provided with holes.
EFFECT: ensuring tightness of cover, safety and reliability of design, reduced power consumption.
