FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: device comprises two transmitting coils for generating superimposed magnetic fields, a receiving coil located in the coverage area of both the magnetic fields and a control device for controlling the transmitting coils so as to minimise the magnitude of voltage induced in the receiving coil, which is synchronous with the cycle of applying phase-alternating ac voltages. The microcomputer contained in the device is configured to detect a concealed metallic object if the ratio of the phase-alternating voltages does not match the ratio of the distance from the receiving coil to the transmitting coils.

EFFECT: reducing costs with the high sensitivity of the device.
