FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the detection of a concealed dielectric object. Device comprises a potential probe for determining electrical potential in an electric field, first and second capacitive devices and a control device for supplying the first and second capacitive devices with alternating-phase a.c. voltages. Control device is configured to amplify the alternating-phase a.c. voltages in opposite directions to each other in order to minimise the magnitude of the variable component of the voltage detected by the potential probe, said component being synchronous with the cycle of supplying the alternating-phase a.c. voltages. Concealed dielectric object is detected if the ratios of alternating-phase a.c. voltages are not equal to each other.
EFFECT: designing a simple and accurate device for detecting a concealed dielectric object.
