FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and can be used for production of springs of steel by hot winding. Method comprises billet heating to temperature above point of AC3, holding at temperature above point of AC3, billet winding into coil at temperature above point of AC3, spiral cooling to temperature of martensitic transformation and tempering. Blank heating is carried out in two stages, between which workpiece is held at temperature below point AC1 for period of time providing alignment of temperature in cross section of billet.
EFFECT: reduced time of homogenising tempering, which reduces grain growth in production of spring by heating billet in several stages.
