SUBSTANCE: method comprises receiving the font file which defines the font type contained in the document which, when printed, generates a certain number of pages; determining by if the number of pages exceeds a re-layout optimisation threshold; if the number of pages exceeds the re-layout optimisation threshold, providing the said font file to be used to print the document; if the number of pages does not exceed the re-layout optimisation threshold, generating a re-laid out font file for the said font type that does not include elements of the font type that are not in at least a portion of the document; and providing the re-laid out font file to be used to print the document.
EFFECT: reducing the size of the document file.
