FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns treatment of metabolic syndrome. Low-caloric diet therapy is 1,200 kcal for women and 1,500 kcal for men, with limitation of carbohydrate-containing products and fats. Food ration include carbohydrate-containing food products with glycaemic index less than 40. Prescribed is metformin 850 mg 2 times a day and at reduction of initial body weight on 5 % and weight steadying for 2 months caloric intake is raised to the rated value defined for the patient. Food ration is carbohydrate-containing products with glycaemic index 40-69 to weight reduction to the specified level, metformin is taken for 6 months. Additional assessment takes place according to subjective scale for asthenia assessment MFI-20. Assessment of diurnal drowsiness is made according to drowsiness scale (Epworth). Blood serum level of 25 (OH) - vitamin D, and at reduction of its content is below 29 ng/ml, akvadetrim for the first 6 months dosage 2,000 IU, then in dosage 1,000 IU for 6 months, in addition, the therapeutic course from the first day, orally melaxen at bedtime for 30 minutes before sleeping in a dose of 1.5 mg for the first week then in a dose of 3 mg for the following twelve weeks, then in a dose of 3 mg for the first 10 days every month for 3 months.

EFFECT: method provides efficient way to reduce abdominal obesity, to improve tissue sensitivity to insulin, to increase adaptive body mechanisms to stress reactions, to reduce vegetative and asthenic disorders by recovering circadian rhythms of melatonin secretion reducing development and progression of metabolic disorders.
