FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to medicine, namely to therapy and gastroenterology, and concerns treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS). That is ensured by administering ursodeoxycholic acid 15 mg/kg for 6 months in patients with an insulin resistance index HOMA-IR of more than 2.7 and a vitamin D level of less than 30 ng/ml with elevation of the transaminase level to three standards inclusive. Additionally, diet therapy is recommended for 12 months with restriction of fats and usage of carbohydrate-containing products with glycemic index less than 70, while reducing the calorie content of diet by 500 kcal from the initial one, the minimum calorie intake per day must be not less than 1200 kcal for women and at least 1500 for men. Also, colcalciferol is administered in dose of 2000 IU and Glucophage^®long 1000 mg in the evening after supper for 12 months.

EFFECT: such complex treatment provides reducing hepatic steatosis by reducing abdominal obesity, body weight and metabolic disorders.
