FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steam attemperators with a vorticity suppression function. The claimed steam attemperator comprises a portion of a housing with a channel for cooling water feed to a working fluid pipeline channel. Note here that the said portion comprises the fluid flow channel between the housing first end and at least one hole located nearby the housing second end. Besides, it has a recess located nearby the housing second end and at least one hole located at the housing portion with the said recess. A vorticity suppression device is located nearby the second end, in the fluid flow channel for the attenuation or suppression of the vortex shade or oscillations developed by the flow. The said oscillations are transferred to the steam attemperator via the working fluid flow in the channel. The said vorticity suppression device extends around the housing outer surface in an interrupted configuration, the said configuration being interrupted by the housing portion with the said recess.
EFFECT: suppression of vorticity, hence, decreased vibrations caused by turbulence, longer life.
